What are the directions to the airport?
Huntington Tri-State Airport is located just off I-64 Exit 1 in Kenova, West Virginia. Click here for directions.
What are the airport’s operating hours?
The main terminal opens approximately 2 hours prior to the first flight of the morning and closes each evening about one hour after the last flight of the day has arrived. The airlines and car rental companies maintain their own hours of operation and may change according to flight schedules. The Airport Administration office is open 8:30am – 4:30pm.
Where is the airport’s lost and found office?
To retrieve items lost in the common areas of the airport, visit the Airport Police Department, located to the right of the security checkpoint entrance; or call (304) 453-6165 ext. 16.
What if I lost or left a personal item on-board the aircraft?
Please call the 1-800 number of the airline on which you were traveling, or visit their ticket counter.
Is Wi-Fi internet access available at the airport?
Yes, free wireless internet access is available throughout the terminal. For those without a computer, an internet kiosk is also available for a nominal fee.
Does the airport have an ATM?
An Automatic Teller Machine is located in the ticketing concourse next to The Landing restaurant.
Does the airport have skycap service?
Skycap personnel are available in front of the terminal and at baggage claim. Skycaps can assist individuals with transporting luggage inside the terminal and to the ticket counter. Skycaps are also available to transport disabled individuals by wheelchair to and from aircraft security screening locations.
Are wheelchairs available at the airport?
Wheelchairs are provided free of charge for travelers using HTS and are available from the Airport Skycap or your airline representative.
Do I need a boarding pass to get through the security checkpoint?
The Transportation Security Administration only permits ticketed passengers with boarding passes through the security checkpoint. If you need to accompany small children or someone needing assistance, you can make special arrangements for a non-flying guest pass through your airline.
Where can I smoke at the airport?
All areas within the terminal building are designated as smoke-free. Smoking is permitted outside the building in designated areas only. Smoking is not permitted once a passenger has entered the secured area.
Where can I find a U.S. mailbox at the airport?
A U.S. mailbox is located in the ticketing concourse next to the Hertz counter.

How can I check the status of my flight?
Call the 1-800 number of the airline on which you are traveling.
How early should I arrive at the airport before departure?
To facilitate an on-time departure, the airlines recommend that passengers arrive 90 minutes to 2 hours prior to departure. Many airlines have a check-in cut-off of 30 or 45 minutes prior to departure time. When traveling around holidays, other peak times and/or international travel, a suggested check-in time is 2–3 hours prior to your departure.
What identification do I need to travel?
Adult passengers (18 and over) are required to show a U.S. federal or state-issued photo ID that contains the following: name, date of birth, gender, expiration date and a tamper-resistant feature in order to be allowed to go through the checkpoint and onto their flight. Are there restrictions on the size of carry-on or checked luggage?
Yes. Carry-on luggage and checked bags have certain weight and/or height restrictions. Please contact your air carrier or click here for additional information.
Do the airlines charge for checked luggage and other items?
Most airlines are now charging fees for checked bags. Baggage fees and permissible sizes and weights of bags vary by airline so be sure to check with your carrier for accurate information or click here for additional information.
Do the airlines accept cash or credit cards?
Credit or debit cards are accepted by the airlines. Most airlines accept cash at the airport, with the exception of Allegiant Air. As of September 1, 2010, Allegiant Air ticket counter representatives no longer accept cash for any transactions (ticket sales, baggage fees, etc.).
What items may I take through airport security?
Ticketed passengers must clear airport checks before proceeding to aircraft boarding gates. To familiarize yourself with policies and for a list of permitted and prohibited items, please visit www.tsa.gov or the TSA Information page on our website.
I am traveling with small children. What do I need to know?
All passengers must be screened, regardless of age (even babies) before they can go through the security checkpoint. The Transportation Security Administration offers these tips.
Are minor children permitted to travel alone?
Special services are provided for children traveling alone. Contact your airline for specific requirements and information. The U.S. Department of Transportation provides advice to parents of children who must travel alone by air.

Where do I go for lost baggage?
Lost baggage is the responsibility of your airline. If your baggage is lost or delayed, complete a missing baggage form with your airline before leaving the airport and keep a copy of the claim for your records. To check on the status of your claim, contact the airline’s baggage claim department.

Where is parking for a disabled or special needs person?
Handicap parking is located in front of the main terminal for loading and unloading of passengers, as well as in the main parking lot.
Can I drive up to the terminal to drop off or pick up passengers?
Vehicles are allowed curbside as long as they are actively loading or unloading. No parking or standing is permitted. Due to strict security guidelines, unattended vehicles will be towed. Individuals may park in the main parking lot for free for the first 30 minutes.
