Airport Reports Highest Monthly Boardings
In Over 13 Years
Huntington, WV---- Huntington Tri-State Airport continues to experience substantially higher volumes of passenger traffic compared to passengers utilizing the airport’s services in the past. The airport boarded 7,861passengers in May, representing a 58% increase over May 2007. “May boardings represent the highest monthly boardings in over thirteen years,” stated Beckie McKinley, the airport’s Marketing Director. Year-to-date passenger boardings are up 45% over 2007 and 152% over 2006 according to recently released airport statistics.
Allegiant Air, which provides non-stop, low fare service to Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, and St. Petersburg / Clearwater, Florida, accounted for 57% of all passengers coming and going from Tri-State Airport with 8,814 total passengers in May. The airline more than tripled their passenger boardings in May 2008 compared to May 2007. Currently, Allegiant offers four weekly flights to Orlando, two weekly flights to Ft. Lauderdale and two weekly flights to St. Pete / Clearwater.
Delta Air Lines, with service to Cincinnati, increased their monthly traffic by 11% over the previous month of April 2008, while Charlotte service on US Airways Express remained relatively constant.
