Airport Reports Highest Monthly Boardings Since 1999
Huntington, WV---- Huntington Tri-State Airport continues to experience substantially higher volumes of passenger traffic compared to passengers utilizing the airport’s services in the past. The airport boarded 6,059 passengers in June, representing the highest monthly number of passenger boardings since July 1999. Year-to-date passenger boardings are up 75% over last year according to recently released airport statistics.
June’s total passenger boardings increased by 81% over June 2006. Delta Connection’s boardings to Cincinnati increased by 10% over June 2006 while boardings on US Airways Express increased by 13%. Allegiant Air, which provides non-stop, low fare service to Orlando / Daytona Beach, increased by 26% over last month. The newest service, Delta’s non-stop service to Atlanta which began June 6th, also contributed to the increased traffic by adding an additional 678 enplanements during the month, representing 11% of the total passengers departing from Tri-State Airport.
Allegiant Air, which averaged 99% full for the month and accounted for 27% of the total passengers, expanded their service to three flights a week beginning June 7th, to accommodate summer travelers. The increased service will continue through August 9th.
