Airport Police Officer Promoted to Sergeant’s Rank
August 1, 2014 -- Richard A. Madison, a patrolman with the Tri-State Airport Authority Police Department, was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on July 31, 2014.
Sgt. Madison was officially pinned with his new badge by Airport Police Chief R. Bevin Chafin and Airport Director Jerry Brienza during a ceremony and luncheon held at the Airport. Madison has been employed there for over 21 years. Both Brienza and Chafin commended Sgt. Madison for his hard work and dedication, and said it was a well-deserved promotion.
Airport police officers are employees of the Tri-State Airport Authority and are state certified and empowered to enforce the state laws of West Virginia within the geographical boundaries of the airport. The Police Department works closely with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and all other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to carry out its mission. The department’s primary function is the protection and safety of the general public as they traverse through the airport.
