Deputy Airport Director- (Full-Time)

SALARY RANGE: $53,000 - $58,000 ANNUALLY (DOQ)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Deputy Airport Director assists the Airport Director with the management of the Tri-State Airport Authority. The individual implements and coordinates safety, security, and other rules and regulations for the Authority and assists the Airport Director with oversight of construction activities. Oversees the daily activities in airport operations (Aircraft Rescue FireFighting – ARFF), police and maintenance departments at the Tri-State Airport.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: managing and leading the Operations, Police and Maintenance Departments. This includes direct oversight of the Fixed Base Operation (FBO). Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with City, County, State, and Federal regulators and mutual aid agencies. Assist the Airport Director with coordination of construction projects. Manage snow removal operations. Ensuring the facility is clean and presentable. Makes sure the Airport is compliant with FAA and TSA regulations and local building and safety codes, and performs office duties such as: record keeping, scheduling, and employee evaluations. Individual must be able to work effectively and communicate tactfully with management, employees, Airport tenants and contractors. Performs other duties as assigned. Acts in place of the Airport Director in his/her absence.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The Deputy Airport Director must be detail-oriented and possess leadership, communication and problem-solving skills. Individual must have a good knowledge of airport operations and management. Candidate must be able to provide team leadership, delegate work assignments, and ensure that work gets completed efficiently.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a BS Degree in Aviation Administration/Management, or similar. Three years of airport operations and/or airport management experience; two years of professional experience in a supervisory level capacity a plus. Must possess a valid drivers-license and have a clean driving record.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employment is contingent upon completion of a federal 10-year background investigation and/or a background investigation by any law enforcement agency. Employee must maintain appropriate security status. Individual will be required to work during an airport emergency and during snow removal. Must be available and on call 24/7. Individual will be exposed to outdoor conditions including, but not limited to, inclement weather, noise, fumes and chemicals.

CLASS TITLE:  Airport Police Officer    

DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT:An Airport Police Officer is a sworn peace officer, authorized to carry a firearm that enforces federal and state laws, security, traffic, and safety rules and regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:A Police Officer will engage in law enforcement activities including foot and vehicle patrol.  Performs law enforcement, security, and safety duties in support of the Huntington Tri-State Airport.  Monitor and disseminate relevant threat information, law enforcement data, and other intelligence.  Provide information services to Airport tenants and the traveling public.  Provide law enforcement support to airline passenger screening program and oversees air carrier compliance in accordance with FAA regulations.  Patrol airport on foot or in patrol vehicle; check security of airport buildings, facilities, vehicles, and grounds.  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.  Ability to learn modern police practices, laws, ordinances, and airport security procedures.  Must use and care for all essential police equipment which includes firearms; bi-annually complete police certification with firearms; follow oral and written instructions; analyze situations and take appropriate action.  Individual must react quickly and calmly during crisis situations.  Must deal effectively and courteously with the general public and work as a team with other law enforcement officers. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Individual must possess a high school diploma or above.  Must be 18 years of age.  Must be certified through the West Virginia State Police Academy.

ALO/Assistant Landside Officer (Seasonal-part-time) Starting pay $9.00/hr

Duties may include handling all sales; Completion of all necessary reports; Accountability of cash drawer; Keeping parking lot building and area clean at all times; Requesting and replenishing supplies; Conducting parking lot check and car count as needed; Monitoring automated parking equipment, parking lot, all airport property parking areas, and gates as well as does minor repairs and time changes.This individual is a uniformed, non-sworn para-police class responsible for a broad range of activities in support of the delivery of law enforcement services; duties may include both field and office assignments.  The work is performed under the general supervision of the chief of police, or his/her designee. Perform a number of tasks relating to parking lot, and parking violations; does related work as required, or as directed by the chief of police, the airport director or his/her designee.

P/T Operations Lineman Position

$11.00 per hour, Up to 29 hours per week. Individual will perform all airport operational duties including, but not limited to, manual updates, airport security, airfield inspections, terminal inspections, landside inspections, wild life control and reporting, fueling operations and event coordination. Assists with snow removal and light maintenance duties.  Provides immediate response to and assists with emergencies and disasters that may occur at or near the airport.  Must attend aviation related training programs.  Must be able to work independently and have a firm familiarity with FAA and TSA rules and regulations by end of probation period.  Must be able to make sound decisions and exercise good judgment. Must have the ability to work effectively with management and other public employees, airport tenants, and other citizens.  On the job training will be provided.  Individual may be exposed to inclement and sometimes severe weather conditions. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Individual must be willing to work overtime and stand-by.  Must respond to work during emergencies, including snow removal operations.
